Ann Richards Book Launch Party

| Home |

OUT&ABOUT With A.L. GORDON

A group of Texans living in New York hosted a party last night for Ann Richards, the former governor of Texas, to celebrate the publication of "I'm Not Slowing Down: Winning My Battle With Osteoporosis" (Dutton), which Ms. Richards wrote with Dr. Richard Levine, a professor of obstetrics and gynecology at Columbia's College of Physicians and Surgeons.

The party at Jean-Luc restaurant was hosted by Emily Connor and the event-organizing company Tex in the City. Guests flaunted their Texas origins by writing their native city on their name tags. Non-Texans made due. "I was told it would be okay if I put 'honorary Texan' under my name," said Jeremy Rosendale, who drove to New York from Baltimore to attend the party.

Ms. Richards writes in her book that she tricks herself into eating calcium rich foods. Sadly, the party goody bag contained none. Instead, there was Mrs. Renfro's raspberry chipotle salsa and D.L. Jardine's Texas Champagne cayenne pepper sauce, along with a red bandanna.
